Job Offer

The Vietnamese German University (VGU) in Ho Chi Minh-City is a young autonomous university providing excellent study programs in the fields of engineering, technology and business. VGU has an international background and cooperates with German partner Universities. We are striving for excellence in the fields of research and development, teaching and lifelong learning, university governance, and are heading to become a world-class institution in the South- East Asian market within the next two decades. Furthermore, VGU is designated to provide capacity building measures for the entire higher education sector in Vietnam. VGU is the first of four planned new model state universities in Vietnam. Our organizational and campus development is funded by a World Bank loan of approx. 180 million USD.
To support the young and development university administration we are looking to fill the following position in our Finance Department with a qualified and experienced candidate to work in Binh Duong and HCMC:

Management Accountant

Overall responsibility for costing, pricing, assets accounting, and financial management and disbursement, including training in these fields, according to the regulations of the Government of Vietnam (MOF, MOET, State Treasury, Tax Dept) and internal financial regulations of VGU.

The responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the Chief Accountant in preparation and supply of financial and accounting duties.
  • Assist Chief Accountant in the development and supervise the implementation of accounting, internal controlling, and financial system and procedures.
  • Participate in the development of an appropriate internal control system.
  • Assist and contribute in the development of an internal financial controlling, include in definition of business performace indicator, etc
  • Support the customization and implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP)
  • Prepare quarterly, annual financial statements and financial management reports in compliance with both governments’ and donors’ requirements.
  • Review and verify bank account reconciliations, disbursements and reconciliations for replenishment requests.
  • Preparing PIT, CIT, VAT reports and other tax correspondences for the tax office and State Treasury on behalf of the Chief Accountant
  • Computing and recording related transactions such as costing, pricing and assets accounting.
  • Cross-check with other staff or department about salary, lecturer reward, contract, cost, pricing, procurement.
  • Control and manage asset, facilities and perform other accounting related duties.
  • Cooperate with and consult the Procurement Unit in preparing of procurement plans and checking contracts before being signed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Having at least Bachelor degree in accounting/finance.
  • Having at least 3 years of working experience in accounting.
  • Good proficiency in English and Vietnamese and the ability to clearly communicate and report in these languages.
  • Proficiency in Computer skills, especially in MS Office and desirably in Accounting Software (Administrative Accounting Software is prior).
  • Having worked for at least 2 years in an international company or University will be a plus.
  • Chief Accountant Certificate or other professional certificates from the fields of financial and accounting would be seen a plus.

What we offer

The successful applicant will work on a full-time position, initially fixed for 2 years with the option to be a permanent employee if successful in that role. This post may require the employee to occasionally travel to other locations in Vietnam.
The qualification orientated, attractive salary is above sector-average.
The successful candidate will work in the Finance & Accounting Department and directly report to the Chief Accountant. As the business area develops, further personnel will join the team.
