An important milestone in VGU´s administrative and academic development was the foundation of the VGU-Consortium in February 2009. The Consortium is to be considered the academic backbone of the Vietnamese-German University and one of the major stakeholders of VGU. Its core task is to support VGU regarding academic and administrative issues.

Organized as a non-profit organization the Consortium consists of 32 members: 15 Universities, 16 Universities of Applied Sciences and the TU9 - the association of the leading research-oriented Universities of Technology in Germany - joined the Consortium.

The VGU-Consortium coordinates the cooperation with VGU´s German partner universities, guarantees quality assurance in research and teaching and is in charge of different tasks regarding the academic and administrative development of the Vietnamese-German University. Furthermore, the VGU-Consortium also seeks to contribute to the internationalization of German higher education.
