Program Description

The Master program International Urban Development runs over four semesters including the Master Thesis. The program starts once a year in the winter semester and complies with the EU 'Bologna' standards comprising 120 credit points in line with the European Transfer Credit System (ECTS) . A “Master of Science” degree will be awarded after the successful completion of the program. The Master Program consists of 120 credits The program’s structure is innovative as far as it is interdisciplinary and organized in a series of intensive modules taught by the most renowned experts worldwide.

The curriculum consists in total of 9 thematic modules in the first year, each of which is normally divided in several topic oriented course units to provide a sound understanding of the state of the art in urban development planning word wide. The content and organisation of these modules has been adopted from the highly successful Masters courses 'International Co-operation and Urban Development at the German University of Technology in Darmstadt which is the only English taught Masters course in urban planning to be admitted to the prestigeous Erasmus Mundus program. The third semester provides in depth specialization in the field of Urban Environmental management through a set of selected and adapted modules from the Masters in Environmental management at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus. Read more...

The fourth semester is reserved for the preparation and defence of the Master's thesis on a topic related to one or several modules from the curriculum.
