The Benefits of the Program

Graduates from the Sustainable Urban Development (SUD) Master Program will experience an international education environment with German standard in Binh Duong – Vietnam and will get a Master’s Degree from Technical University of Darmstadt (TUD) and Vietnamese German University (VGU) that meets international qualification.

The program is delivered entirely in English by dedicated and experienced lecturers from Germany and Vietnam and with a high quality curriculum designed by TUD. The program also has a strong connection with domestic and international research organizations and other industries in the field of urban development.

The program also offers student with attractive tuition fee and access to various scholarships from VGU and from DAAD – Germany.

Graduates from this course will be able to critically analyze and assess growing problems in urban areas and to develop appropriate solutions from different aspects (architectural, social, economical, ecological and institutional, etc.). They will be able to work with different teams, build up a world-wide network of professional contacts, coordinate and connect individual project elements to each other. Besides, outstanding problem and curiosity-driven research can be done by individuals and teams during or after the course with the help of the broad range of lecturers from the study program.

Graduate students can then apply for a wide array of positions in governmental, non-governmental and private sectors and in different disciplines involving urban governance, urban planning, urban design, construction, real estate, energy and water.

As the contents of the program is oriented to work on an international level in urban sustainability related issues, SUD graduate students can become experts in urban development field, but it is worthy to note that as the program does not focus in Architecture. The graduates of the master program “Sustainable Urban Development” are not qualified as an urban planner or landscape architect (landscape architects) of the German Chambers of Architects respectively German Architects and Town Planners chambers.

SUD classroom to be moved to Ho Chi Minh City

Since the academic year 2016 - 2017, SUD Study Program will be held at HCMC TEG Building (307A Nguyen Trong Tuyen Street, Ward 10, Phu Nhuan District, Ho Chi Minh City).
