Graduates from the Sustainable Urban Development (SUD) Master Program have access to a wide array of academic and professional positions in Vietnam and worldwide.
Vietnam is very definite on the path of urbanization. Vietnam’s urbanization process will continue at a rapid pace for the next 10 to 15 years, and between 2020 and 2025 it is expected that 50% of the population will be living in urban areas (Vietnam Urbanization Review, 2012). This process goes with various urban development activities as well as efforts to manage the trade off from rapid urbanization that require resources from different disciplines.
The program, therefore, is a suitable preparation for those seeking a research career in Vietnam as well as abroad. Graduates from the program can apply for research positions or Ph.D. positions at Universities and other Research Institutions, participate in or hold research projects themselves.
Graduates from the program also able to provide economical, social, environmental, institutional, architectural and urban design knowledge and skills to public administration, design and planning consultant agencies, construction agencies, real estate development agencies, the energy and water sectors, and other urban development projects held by public, private or non-governmental sectors in Vietnam and worldwide.
Graduate students from SUD2012 intake and SUD2013 intake who have finished the master program (21 students) have been involving in various academic and professional positions in Vietnam as well as abroad. Among those, 2 former students are now Ph.D. candidates at Technical University of Darmstadt, 6 former students are now research and teaching assistants at different Vietnamese universities, 2 former students are now working for Vietnamese research institutions, 1 former student is employed for NGO, 1 former student is project director at housing investment company, 9 former students are now continuing their architect, urban planner, urban designer career at different consultancy and investment companies.
Since the academic year 2016 - 2017, SUD Study Program will be held at HCMC TEG Building (307A Nguyen Trong Tuyen Street, Ward 10, Phu Nhuan District, Ho Chi Minh City).
