Modelling, Simulation and Validation of Dynamic Systems with Lab Experiments

Learning goals

After having successfully completed the course, the students should

  • know the basic techniques of modelling of dynamic systems
  • know how to determine the system parameters
  • know how to simulate a dynamic system with MATLAB/Simulink

Course contents

  • Introduction to modelling and simulation of dynamic systems
  • Oscillator with different damping cases: modelling, determination of system parameters, simulation, validation
  • DC-Motor: modelling, determination of system parameters, simulation, measuring of step response and frequency response, validation
  • Water tank: modelling, determination of system parameters, simulation, validation
  • Heater associated with Pulse width modulation, parametric system identification with fminsearch-function
  • Relay: modelling, determination of system parameters, simulation, validation
