Study and Work in Germany

For Computational Engineering students, a variety of opportunities exist to go to Germany. During the studies, students can take a research internship in Bochum and, in addition, have to opportunity to apply for a scholarship to study there for complete one semester. After graduating, students can apply for university positions or try to get a scholarships for doctoral studies. And last but not least, the degree in Computational Engineering opens the door to the German job market.

Study Exchange

8 Week Research Internship

At the end of the second semester, Computational Engineering students have the opportunity to go to Ruhr-University Bochum  for an 8 week research internship in August/September. In the research internship, each student

  • participates in an ongoing research project under the guidance of an experienced research assistant,
  • is responsible for a suitable subtask from the project,
  • completes a case study (3 CP) about the work.

In addition, students attend the block course “Object-Oriented Modelling and Implementation of Structural Analysis Software” together with Bochum students.

The research internship is available to all Computational Engineering full time students. Financial support for the costs for flight, housing and insurance is provided by VGU.

One Semester Study Exchange

Students have the opportunity to go to Ruhr-University Bochum for one semester in order to study or to complete the master thesis project. Students with very good grades can apply for a scholarship in order to get financial support.

After Graduation

Doctoral Studies

If you want to deepen your scientific knowledge and plan to continue with doctoral studies, there are different options. Students who showed excellent performance during studies have a good chance to get a position as research assistant at Ruhr-University Bochum or other German universities. The professors there are always looking for talents. Furthermore, you can apply for a scholarship in order to get financial support for your stay in Germany. Both, the German government and the Vietnamese Government have exchange programs to promote young scientists.

Industry

The german job market has a high demand for people having a solid technical background. International graduates of Computational Engineering in Bochum have little difficulties finding a job in German companies. Since VGU graduates hold exactly the same degree, this is an option also for vietnamese students.
