Transients and Transforms Electric Circuits and Systems

Learning goals

The students are able to identify and apply the most appropriate method for the computation of transient currents and voltages in linear electric circuits and systems as they occur in the various disciplines of electrical engineering and information technology.

Course contents

The lecture covers methods to analyze linear electric circuits and systems:

  • in the time domain, solving first and second order differential equations, 
  • in the frequency domain, using Fourier analysis for periodic functions and
  • Fourier-/Laplace Transforms for non-periodic functions
