Minister of Transport Vietnam has decided to award the medal "For the transport development of Vietnam" to Prof. Manfred Boltze for appreciating and recognizing his significant contributions to the development of transport sector and research and education in Vietnam. For the past ten years, Prof. Manfred Boltze has made a continuous effort to set up and further promote scientific cooperation in the field of transport between Darmstadt University of Technology and Vietnamese partners, especially the Vietnamese-German University. Prof. Manfred Boltze founded the Vietnamese-German Transport Research Centre at VGU for international doctoral training program and Master of Science in Traffic and Transport program with German quality and standards. His activities have laid the base for scientific development and transport technology transfer from Germany to Vietnam to address transport and traffic problems in Vietnam.

On September 22, 2014, the modal awarding ceremony was held on Binh Duong Campus. The event received the attendance of delegations from Ministry of Transport, National Traffic Safety Committee, Transport Department of Binh Duong Province, and Vietnamese partner universities. At the ceremony, Mr. Le Dinh Tho – MOT’s Deputy Minister awarded the medal to Prof. Manfred Boltze and stated that the honorable prize has embraced that the University and the Transport Research Centre will receive further opportunities to cooperate with the Ministry of Transport and related national agencies in conducting research to deal with the increased transport issues and training professional transport engineers for the sector.
