The Vietnamese-German University (VGU) is a very young university. Officially founded in March 2008, Vietnamese and German stakeholders have made a joint effort to establish a research-oriented university of world standard right in Vietnam. Given the mission by the Vietnamese government VGU is heading towards its goal of becoming the leading research university in Vietnam and the region.
Based on a close cooperation between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the German State Hessen the project broadened to a German-wide cooperation. The initial idea of establishing a Vietnamese-German University was developed by the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and the Hessen State Ministry of Higher Education, Research and the Arts (HMWK) in 2006. The joint project found broad support within short time: our stakeholders and partners ensure the high quality of our study programs and research and accompany VGU on its way towards excellence.
VGU has moved on rapidly since its foundation in 2008. Within only three years the university established excellent study programs and progressed significantly in its research activities. Focused on engineering areas and natural sciences VGU offers an outstanding education to highly qualified students and young academics.
The Vietnamese-German University is designed to meet international standards and to set regional benchmarks - education, research and innovation have been established and are constantly improved.
